East Central Division Slate


Janice Larson Razaq, NCTM, is keyboard director at Harper College and has an independent studio, teaching all ages. Razaq served as state certifi cation chair, state president and is vice president of the American Matthay Association. She holds the Licentiate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music and degrees from the Eastman School of Music, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Texas Tech University. “MTNA has been my inspiration for my decades of teaching and performing. My past service to Illinois State MTA is my incentive to seek another MTNA position where my skills will make a difference to the East Central Division,” she says.


Lori Rhoden is professor of piano and coordinator of piano pedagogy/group piano at Ball State University. She has performed and taught in China, Korea, Canada and throughout the United States. Rhoden has been a Fulbright Specialist Grant recipient (2011 Southwest China Piano Pedagogy Project), an instructor for the Yamaha Passport to Music program, and is the piano program director for the annual Masterworks Festival. She is past president of the Indiana MTA and was IMTA Teacher of the Year in 2010. “MTNA is a lifeline for professional development and collaboration. I treasure all of the colleagues I have met through MTNA,” she says.
