The University of Miami Student Collegiate Chapter was established in 2006 and is advised by Dr. Megan Walsh, Director of the University of Miami Piano Preparatory Program. Twenty five students enthusiastically joined the new chapter. In its first year, the chapter organized a concert series and helped coordinate the college piano auditions for the department. 

Students from the chapter attended the 2007 Collaborative Conference in Toronto, Canada where they met with other Florida student members and shared ideas. Other events for the year included participation in the Walk for Autism held in Miami.

The future loooks promising for this young chapter. Many ideas for future events include community service projects, workshop presentations at local, state and national conferences, organizing fundraising events and establishing a mentoring program with the University of Miami Piano Preparatory Program.
